“Away from the Herd” is a painting that emerge

“Away from the Herd” is a painting that emerged from a long and challenging process. Despite extensive preparation work, including tonal experiments, numerous color studies, and detailed drawings, I found myself making multiple corrections, adding layer upon layer.

This woman, carrying her goat, taught me how to accept the moments of frustration during the process and how to deal with unsatisfactory results. She reminded me to maintain faith and patience, to discern when to stop or when to push through, and to be bold with my paint and brushstrokes.

She wore her original blue dress for a year, but her new warm yellow dress suits her much better, don’t you think? After all the sweat and tears, this painting was one of the favourits of my last show and the buyer was deeply moved by the colors and the thick layers of paint.

Vanaf 14 april presenteert Stichting de Raadskelder in Doesburg de expositie ‘Human Nature’ met schilderijen van Wencke Vinks en beelden van Mirjam van Oostveen. Tijdens het laatste weekend is er een Meet&Greet waarbij beide kunstenaars aanwezig zullen zijn. De expositie is in de weekenden geopend van 13 uur tot 17 uur.
